Shared Care and Patient Information
The North Yorkshire LOC covers four primary care trusts: Selby-York, Scarborough Whitby Ryedale, Craven Harrogate and Hambleton Richmondshire.
The following shared care schemes are in operation in these PCTs:
Referral for Cataract
For all of North Yorkshire.
If vision falls within certain guidelines, patients are referred direct to the cataract clinic. Refer to the cataract tab for more information.
The aim of this scheme is to reduce waiting times. Your GP will be informed of the referral.
Community based Low Vision service
Assessment and supply of LVA by accredited optometrists in the community.
Appliances for the assessment are supplied on a loan basis at no charge to the patient.
Domiciliary Eye Examinations for Housebound Diabetic Patients
In Scarborough Whitby Ryedale.
For diabetics unable to attend the local hospital for retinal photography.
A visit can be arranged from one of the participating optometrists at no charge to the patient.
Local enhanced eyecare service.
For all of North Yorkshire.
