The North Yorkshire Local Optometric Committee (LOC) is the official organisation representing optometrists within the NHS in North Yorkshire. It provides advice to the Health Authority, local Primary Care Trusts and information to optometrists in the area.

The LOC has taken on the role of helping to organise and establish various shared care schemes within the area, such as direct referral for cataract, a community based Low Vision Aid service and a new county-wide LES scheme.
