The North Yorkshire Local Optometric Committee (LOC) is the official organisation representing optometrists within the NHS in North Yorkshire. It provides advice to the Health Authority, local Primary Care Trusts and information to optometrists in the area.
The LOC has taken on the role of helping to organise and establish various shared care schemes within the area, such as direct referral for cataract, a community based Low Vision Aid service and a new county-wide LES scheme.

The LOC also runs continuing education days which receive DOCET accreditation and are FREE for local optometrists. The next CET day will be on October 17 2012, at the National Railway Museum in York.

The 2012 LOC AGM will be held at Sovereign house Clifton moor York on weds 18th April at 6.30 for 7.0 pm.The new GOS 18 procedure and LES scheme will be on the agenda - some clarification points have been added to the LES page.
